Summer Strength & Conditioning

 

Who:  Girls Volleyball players who are looking to increase their vertical jump, court speed and hitting power

What: Training that will teach proper lifting form and build a faster, stronger, more powerful and injury resistant volleyball player. We will focus on the unique energy system demands of playing volleyball in our conditioning.  Along with incorporating pre-hab exercises that will combat some of the overuse injuries that are commonplace with playing volleyball.  Our strength and  power work will incorporate hip, leg, low back and ab strengthening.  As well as exercises to teach the players to turn the new strength into useful power on the court in terms of higher vertical jump and quicker movement around the court.  Our upper body strength and power work will incorporate a lot of external rotation strengthening to prevent shoulder injuries.  We will improve cross patterning imbalances and strengthen internal rotation, eblow extension and wrist flexion thus making more powerful hitters and setters.

When:  Morning Camps: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30am – 11am.                                     Evening Camps:  Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.                                             Camps start June 11th and run thru August 3rd. (8 weeks)

Why:   The summer time is prime training time for your volleyball athlete.  They must come   into the school season in shape, more powerful and ready to play.  Our focus on the   posterior chain, unilateral and weakness training enables our athletes to play at a higher level while having less injuries.  The Spot Athletics owner JL Holdsworth is a former Strength and Conditioning coach at the University of Kentucky and a world class strength athlete.  He and his staff have a plethora of knowledge and have helped develop thousands of athletes.  Don’t send your female volleyball player to a “personal trainer” send them to the people who specialize in developing athletes, The Spot Athletics
