Everyone says they want to feel and look better. Everyone also says they try to eat healthy, so why are so many people struggling to reach their health and fat loss goals? Simply put, they consume too much C.R.A.P.: Caffeine, Refined Sugars, Additives and Preservatives.
C.R.A.P. in your diet can cause increased fat storage, indigestion, heart disease and bloating. None of these things are desirable, yet many people keep eating C.R.A.P. without giving it a second thought. The modern diet is all about being “Easy.” New products are introduced every day, that are low calorie, zero sugars, blah blah blah. The main problem with these products is they are jammed full of C.R.A.P.
C.R.A.P. in your diet can cause increased fat storage, indigestion, heart disease and bloating.
In order to eliminate C.R.A.P. from your diet, you need to think old school: back before we had grocery stores, Chipotle or Starbucks. We grew, hunted and gathered all of our food. Our veggies and fruit rotated with the seasons. The availability of different types of protein also varied with the seasons, as was intended by nature. Modern times have allowed for great variety in produce and protein, but unfortunately the nutritional value of a tomato in December is not equal to a tomato in June. Lucky for us, nature has a built-in gauge for determining a food’s nutritional value: TASTE. Think about those tomatoes again. They just don’t taste as good in December, do they?
Start following these guidelines when you do your grocery shopping to eliminate the C.R.A.P. Look for fruits and vegetables that are in season. Try to vary your protein sources day to day, week to week, etc. Shop on the perimeter of the grocery store, buy from farmer’s markets, eat as many ORGANIC meats and fat sources as possible, choose complex carbohydrates and ROTATE your foods.
This will insure that you are getting the greatest nutritional value for your literal and caloric buck. It will also help keep you on track to reach your goals. When you start eating this way you will notice changes in the short and long term: getting sick less during the year, improved mood, more energy, higher metabolism, less body fat, better sleep, and better heart health. These are not minor changes, they are life changing and it all happens from what you are putting in your body.
Remember, you have control over what food goes into your body. Your short and long term health will be greatly improved by just making these changes in your nutrition. You say you want to eat healthy, you say you want to feel better, but that all starts with not putting C.R.A.P. into your body.
